From August 19 to 21, 2024, the United States Peace Corps, in collaboration with the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), successfully hosted the second “Youth Volunteerism Workshop” in Subic, Zambales. The workshop brought together over a hundred Peace Corps Volunteers and their Filipino counterparts to promote youth engagement in community development.
This event aimed to strengthen the role of young people in shaping local communities through volunteerism, highlighting the importance of cross-cultural collaboration and active civic participation. Participants engaged in various activities designed to build leadership skills, foster community solidarity, and develop sustainable projects in areas such as education, health, and environmental conservation.
The workshop reflects the growing partnership between the United States and the Philippines in empowering youth leaders to take a proactive role in addressing social issues. With the support of the U.S. Peace Corps, Filipino youth volunteers are gaining access to new resources and opportunities, helping them contribute to the nation’s development.
Both countries are committed to furthering this collaboration, recognizing that the engagement of young people in volunteerism will lead to stronger, more resilient communities in the future. The success of the workshop reinforces the importance of youth in community-building efforts and sets the stage for continued cooperation in future initiatives.
